Entourage Announces Winner of the 2016 Yearbook Contest's 1st Place Elementary School Cover Award

PRINCETON, N.J. - Dec. 14, 2016 - PRLog -- Entourage Yearbooks announced their 6th Annual National Yearbook Competition awards, recognizing Yorktown Christian Academy from, Corpus Christi, TX  with the distinctive 1st  Place Elementary School Overall Design award.  The nationally sponsored contest, conducted by Entourage Yearbooks, judged school yearbooks in many facets including creativity, originality, and journalistic relevance.  Hundreds of schools entered across all fifty states at the Elementary, Middle School, and High School level.

"I'd like to offer my sincere congratulations to all of the schools that completed yearbooks and submitted entries into the yearbook contest this year," said Entourage's President Elias Jo. "Putting together a great yearbook takes a lot of time and dedication.  The award winners represent schools who clearly went above and beyond on their yearbook and deserve recognition for their work.  I'm personally blown away by the level of achievement this year."

This achievement recognized Yorktown Christian Academy for putting together a notable yearbook at the Elementary School level.  Their entry was submitted at the end of June 2016 and was officially awarded on November 1st, 2016.  The Yorktown Christian Academy yearbook was selected from hundreds of schools who submitted entries from around the country.

"Yorktown Christian Academy in Corpus Christi, Texas serves students ages 4 (Pre-K) through 14 (8th grade).  Student enrollment runs about 200 give or take from year to year.  We produce one yearbook for the entire school and that in and of itself presents a challenge.  We always try to find a nice balance in theme and design to suit all of these ages and grades.  This year was the first year in at least the last 6 that YCA had a team of students work to create the yearbook from scratch.  A team of eight 8th graders and myself (Kim Lindell) worked together from July to April to produce our yearbook.  My team of students were extremely cooperative and came together to choose our color scheme and basic design.  Each student faced daunting tasks of creating the different pages of our yearbook from a blank canvas.  If you have ever created one, then you know there is an immense amount of details that go into it as well as thousands of choices that need to be made and hundreds of hours that go in.  My proudest moment came when our yearbooks arrived and I overheard more than one of student yearbook staff say how proud they were of their efforts and the end result.  I can't wait to see what this year's team produces!"

More about Entourage's National Yearbook Competition:

Started in 2011, this is the 6th year that the annual Entourage National Yearbook Competition has been held in recognition of schools with yearbooks created by students and school volunteers.  To participate, schools had to submit their yearbook content into categories for overall yearbook theme, page design, photography, and cover design.  This year, over 800 schools entered the competition.

Judging of the contest entries was based on a balanced rating across the dimensions of creativity, originality and journalistic relevance. Schools were judged at separate levels: Elementary, Middle School and High School. 1st through 3rd place winners in each category receive various prizes like cameras, yearbook cover upgrades, and Columbia Scholastic Press Association membership.
