Co-curricular activities

Co-curricular activities are enrichment opportunities that occurr during regular class schedules. These opportunities will continue to be developed as interest and leadership become available.

Art Classes
Art at YCA is based on turning the children's heart and mind to the Lord. To me, there is no greater evidence to the fact that we have been made in the image of God than art. The human ability to find the beauty in the ordinary demonstrates that God mixes and mingles with us to the point that we get to participate in his creativity.

At YCA we believe teaching our students about art is showing them God's creativity. It's been proven that early exposure to visual art and music, promotes activity in the brain and we believe it promotes activity spiritually as well.

This God given creativity in art helps children understand other subjects much more clearly—from math and science, to language arts and geography.

Art nurtures inventiveness as it engages children in a process that aids in the development of self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation, and self-motivation which goes hand in hand with doing, loving and learning for God.

Participating in art activities helps children to gain the tools necessary for understanding human experience as a child of God, adapting to and respecting others' ways of working and thinking, developing creative problem-solving skills, and communicating thoughts and ideas in a variety of ways.
